95° Bhaskara's daughter.

The Hindu mathematician and astronomer Bhaskara flourished around 1150. Of his works that have come down to us is an arithmetic entitled Lilavati ("the beautiful"), and a romantic story is told about this work. According to the tale, the stars foretold dire misfortune if Bhaskara's only daughter Lilavati should marry other than at a certain hour on a certain propitious day. On that day, as the anxious bride was watching the sinking water level of the hour cup, a pearl fell unnoticed from her headdress and, stopping the hole in the cup, arrested the outflow of water. Too late, after the unique lucky moment had passed, the accident was discovered, and the grief-stricken girl was faced with a life of spinsterhood. To console his unhappy daughter, Bhaskara gave her name to his book!

Of his works that have come down to us is an arithmetic entitled Lilavati ("the beautiful"), and a romantic story is told about this work.

Of his works ... is an arithmetic ... and a romantic story is told about this work — 修饰与从句:that have come down to us 定语从句修饰 works;entitled Lilavati 过去分词短语修饰 arithmetic;("the beautiful") 同位语说明书名含义 — 逻辑关系:and 连接两个并列分句,先点出传世著作,再引出与之相关的传说。
